Textual Analysis

The series of collocation analyses below shows the words that appear within the five words that come either before or after “chupatties,” “chapati,” or “chapatis.” The reason for using only five is an attempt at avoiding any false inferences. These words appear in the indexes for some of these texts. Less than five words may be used before moving onto the next topic.

Twelves of the texts, both historical and literary, that have been used to create the content on this site, were used here as well. You will see that “mystery” is collocated with all three spellings. “Chapatis” is also collocated with “revolt” and “mutiny.” While the numbers remain low enough that no definitive conclusions should be drawn from this, it further highlights the confusion and anxiety which surrounded chapati at this time.
